Here comes the don of Kollywood! Ajith and Chakri Toleti (of Unnaipol Oruvan fame) are all set to begin the most awaited Billa 2 in May. The prequel is produced under the banner of Wide Angle Creations (led by George Pious and Suresh Balaje, son of producer-actor K. Balaje, who produced the original Billa with Rajinikanth in 1980) and presented by Mumbai based Sunir Kheterpal, CEO of IN Entertainment (India) Limited, part of the Hinduja Group.
"Development team at INE in Mumbai is currently working on the story and screenplay of Billa 2 with inputs from the director. I am looking forward to be working with Chakri Toleti on Billa 2, who, in a short period of less than a fortnight, has brought in the freshness, energy and vigour required for this project. Yuvan is an integral part of the Billa franchise and all of us are glad to have him on board," Ajith said in a press release.
Unlike Shahrukh Khan's Don 2, Billa 2 is not a sequel but is being designed as a prequel to Billa, wherein the film will focus on the journey of how David became Billa.
Interestingly, Billa 2 will have the same technical team which was behind Billa (2007): cinematographer Nirav Shah, editor Sreekar Prasad and music director Yuvanshankar Raja. Other details about the cast and crew will be finalized befor March 15.
